Meet Brianna Neumeyer, 2016 Streufert Award Recipient
The Board of Directors of WLI proudly introduce the 2016 recipient of the Dr. Donna J. Streufert Leadership Award, Brianna Neumeyer. The Streufert Award recognizes one or more female students at Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW) and Concordia University Ann Arbor (CUAA) whom have demonstrated exceptional and/or unusual servant leadership as demonstrated by Jesus Christ. Miss Neumeyer was selected to receive the award for her exemplary leadership at CUW, which includes a $500 scholarship and plaque of recognition on the CUW campus.
For the past two years, Brianna has served as co-leader of CUW’s children’s ministry, Children of God in Action (CIA), as well as a Campus Ministry Leadership Team (CMLT) member. She has also led small group Bible studies on campus and during four women’s retreats hosted by Ladies in God’s Hands Together (LIGHT). Further leadership roles have included small group leader for the 2015 spring break mission trip to Gary, West Virginia; coordinator of the 2014 30 Hour Famine on campus; and Resident Assistant of the freshman ladies’ dorm at CUW. In these capacities, Brianna has demonstrated skills in servant leadership, organization, communication, and a passion for sharing the love of Jesus Christ with people of all ages. Brianna credits attendance at two WLI regional conferences and a conference of the Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (WAICU) for giving her the skills and confidence needed to be a faithful and effective Christian leader.
According to Brianna, “Receiving the Dr. Donna J. Streufert Leadership Award was a truly amazing and humbling experience. I am blessed by the other nominees that were recognized, as well as the selection committee. “
Originally from Lake Orion, Michigan, Brianna lives at CUW during the school year and works as a meal server at Camp Arcadia in northern Michigan in the summer. In the 2016-2017 school year she will serve as the Congregational Ministries Coordinator for CMLT and oversee Youth Ministry, Drama Ministry and CIA on campus. Brianna will graduate from CUW in December 2017 with a Dual B.A. degree in Early Childhood and Special Education. She enjoys singing in church choirs, volunteering in her mother’s preschool classroom, reading, “hammocking” and exploring by car or on foot to fully experience the world around her.
Congratulations Brianna and God’s blessings on your final year of education and leadership development at CUW!
