Isabelle Viau

Meet Isabelle, the 2023 Dr. Donna J. Streufert Leadership Award Winner - CUAA:

Isabelle Viau is a senior at Concordia University Ann Arbor studying elementary education. A major sports injury was a catalyst that allowed Isabelle to reevaluate what it means to be a leader and set her on a path of mentorship and authentic leadership. Both in the world of basketball and her field of study, Isabelle notes that, “I learned how to work with others and be comfortable with my own vulnerability so that I could be empathetic with my teammates and classmates, and be a positive and effective mentor.”

On campus, Isabelle has been a leader with her team and her involvement with Athletes in Action. She is known as someone who is willing to listen and care, and as such people seek her out. In addition, Isabelle serves her church and community by providing childcare and volunteering with the Sunday school. She has a heart for children and those who have been impacted by her service note, “she is Christ centered in everything that she does and she is not afraid to live out her faith and to show Christ’s love and care to those around her, regardless of age.”

During difficult times of recovery, Isabelle’s faith deepened and this in turn strengthened her leadership. The selection committee was struck by her determination and trust in God’s plan. We look forward to honoring Isabelle at the 2023 Women of Influence Award Banquet.
