Deaconess Kristin Wassilak, is a child of God, wife of Rob for 32 years, and mother of three children in heaven and a daughter, son, and his wife here on earth. She earned a BA in Theology and Deaconess Studies from Concordia College, River Forest, IL, and later a MA in Theology. She has been an LCMS deaconess for 34 years. Currently, she serves as Interim Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences at Concordia University Chicago, Director of the Deaconess Program (the Synod’s only undergraduate program!), and is in doctoral studies.
Kristin has served on the LCMS President’s Commission on Women, the Domestic Violence and Child Abuse Task Force, as a Synodical reconciler, and with Lutherans for Life’s ministry, Word of Hope. In 2018, Kristin authored a chapter in Katie Schuermann’s book “He Restores My Soul” – a compilation of stories written by women walking through the storms of life.
Her favorite things include laughing at the dinner table, walking dates with Rob, fish tacos, cherry rhubarb pie, sunsets, dogs, biking, camping, and sunrise kayaking at the family cabin in Wisconsin.
