WLI recognizes exceptional leadership in Christian women in a variety of programs. The Dr. Donna J. Streufert Leadership Award is given annually to one or more female students at Concordia University Wisconsin and Concordia University Ann Arbor who have demonstrated exceptional and/or unusual leadership skills.
The award is given to the woman who exemplifies servant leadership as demonstrated by Christ. This leadership may have been demonstrated in one of two ways:
1. Outstanding service rendered to Christ and the Church at large.
2. Consistent and/or unusual service at Concordia University Wisconsin.
Nominations are requested from the CUW/CUAA community in winter of each year. Each nominee is then provided with an application form. Selection of the award recipient will be made by a committee formed from members of the WLI Advisory Board. A plaque and a monetary award is presented to the recipient the following spring. The recipient’s picture and name is also displayed on a plaque on the first floor of Rincker Hall.
A Woman of Influence is the embodiment of the Women’s Leadership Institute’s mission, to educate, encourage and embolden Christian women for exemplary leadership. She is a confident and competent Christian woman who serves and leads wherever God has placed her, and who confronts relevant issues with courage, truth and love.
What does it mean to be a woman of influence? WLI believes that this woman steps up to whatever challenges come her way, questions the status quo, works with others, has empathy and a willingness to take action. She mentors and encourages. Above all, she recognizes the God who created and loves her is at the center of everything she does. She is a woman who needs Jesus and who runs to Him for guidance, grace and strength.
WLI recognizes there are many women of influence among us and we are excited to highlight these women leaders through our annual WLI Woman of Influence award.
This award is available to all Christian women, from any walk of life, profession or circumstance, that embodies the characteristics of a woman of influence. Active membership within her home congregation is not necessary, but preferred. The Woman of Influence award will be presented at a celebration in the Fall of 2021 at which time the recipient will share her leadership story and be awarded an honorarium. Anyone can nominate a woman of influence for this award.
