Meet Lizzy Balsiger, 2021 Streufert Award Recipient
The Board of Directors of WLI proudly introduce the 2021 recipient of the Dr. Donna J. Streufert Leadership Award, Elizabeth (Lizzy) Balsiger!
The Streufert Award recognizes one or more female students at Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW) and Concordia University Ann Arbor (CUAA) who have demonstrated exceptional and/or unusual servant leadership as demonstrated by Jesus Christ. Miss Balsiger was selected to receive the award for her exemplary leadership at CUW, which includes a $500 scholarship and plaque of recognition on the CUW campus.
Elizabeth (Lizzy) Balsiger is an undergraduate senior studying communication sciences and disorders and minoring in women’s studies at the Concordia University of Wisconsin. Lizzy holds positions as the student representative for the Wisconsin Speech Language Pathology and Audiology Association (WSHA) and the Vice President of the Concordia Chapter of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA).
Additionally, Lizzy has had her undergraduate research regarding preterm infant feeding peer-reviewed and published on the state and national levels. Lizzy serves on the Concordia campus and in the community working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) by living in-home with Bethesda STEPS participants, sitting on the executive board of Best Buddies, and working as a personal care attendant for a man with disabilities in the community.
Lizzy promotes faith at Concordia by working as a peer leader for the course “Christian Citizen,” mentoring students in vocation, creative, and citizenship as young Christians. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, cooking, and participating in various university organizations.WLI
