2023 Woman of Influence Winner: Dr. Julie Gary
The Women’s Leadership Institute proudly introduces the 2023 recipient of the annual community Woman of Influence Award, Dr. Julie Gary!
This leadership award seeks to recognize the women of influence in our communities who boldly serve and lead in the circles that God has placed them. The award honors women who embody WLI's mission to educate, encourage and embolden Christian women for exemplary leadership. At the annual award banquet, the recipient will share her leadership journey and receive an honorarium in appreciation for her service to the church, the community and those in her spheres of influence.
Dr. Julie Gary has boldly served in many avenues and her influence has reached many through her roles in the military, public health, medical research, academia and athletics. Those who have worked alongside her note that she is a humble and authentic leader; “she is loyal and trustworthy, and her faithfulness to God, family and friends is unparalleled.”
Julie has studied public health, epidemiology and philosophy. She currently serves as the Bureau Chief for Behavioral Health in the city of St. Louis, MO which allows her to focus on the opioid crisis and mental health challenges of her community. She was nominated because of her passion for people in her capacity as a coach, a professor, a mentor, a mother, a veteran and a friend to many. “Julie strongly believes in loving where you live, loving your people and investing in your community.” The selection committee was impressed by Julie’s dedication and impact in the public sector, academics and also her volunteerism within the church.
It is difficult to fit Dr. Gary’s resume and accomplishments into a short bio but we look forward to celebrating her at the WLI Women of Influence Award Dinner on Nov. 4!
